Depression & Anxiety
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, I am able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. I use a trauma informed basis for your services, asking “What happened to you?” not “What is wrong with you?”
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma informed care perspective with all clients, not just those with PTSD. Trauma informed care asks the question, “What happened to you?” and not “What is wrong with you?”
TIC is a perspective and not a method of therapy and allows the discussion to revolve around healing and provides hope; nothing is “wrong” with our feelings. Other methods of counseling will be used but all from a trauma informed care perspective.
Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Trauma can impact anyone, it does not discriminate. Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events.
I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing. Our therapist is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) among many other techniques to assist in the healing from your trauma.
There are several websites dedicated to EMDR that can help you decide if this would be an effective treatment for you. We would work together to determine to engage in this treatment.

It is easy to know when things are not “quite right” in your life. From feeling sad all the time or feeling edgy all the time, or a combination of both, things don’t feel right. There may have been a traumatic event occur in your life, past or recent, that causes many symptoms that take from your daily enjoyment of life.
The question then becomes “What can I do about it?”
Counseling/Therapy can be helpful to you in supporting you in making changes and learning coping skills to deal with your troublesome symptoms.
I provide a supportive, confidential and comfortable environment and work collaboratively with you to begin the healing process.
I work with clients starting at age 16, during individual sessions, to work towards lessening the symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma. I am not seeing couples or anyone under the age of 16.
